SHANNON McGRIFF
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Shannon McGriff has served as Executive Director for The Energy Professionals Association since the position was created in 2017. She has been a TEPA member since 2008, and prior serving as Executive Director, she was the Association’s Events Committee Chair.
As Executive Director for TEPA, she drives the association’s board of directors’ strategic plans, including industry advocacy efforts, membership activation and retention, government relations, event management, education and financing.
Working closely with the TEPA Board, Shannon has helped grow TEPA’s national membership beyond Texas. In 2013, she was instrumental in expanding TEPA into the Northeast U.S., consisting of PJM Interconnection, NYISO and ISO-NE. In 2018, she led the merger with The Illinois Professionals Association that operates in MISO, and in 2022 she managed the acquisition of the Energy Professionals of Ohio (EPO). Today Shannon oversees a national members base of about 200 members companies that represent over 13,000 energy professionals.
Over the last decade Shannon has proven to be a powerful voice throughout the competitive energy markets. She participated in the PUC rulemaking process for the broker registration bill in ERCOT, provides testimony for state legislatures, and advises policies and regulations that impact the retail energy market. Shannon regularly speaks at leading industry events, including the New York Energy Summit and The Texas Blockchain Council. She sits on the board of the Mays Business School Department of Finance Trading, Risk, Investment Program at her alma mater, Texas A&M University, where she helps prepare students for careers in energy. She also organizes TEPA’s annual toy drive, collecting thousands of toys, games, and clothes for Child Advocates, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting kids in the foster care system. In 2019 Shannon founded Power Women of TEPA, created to foster the development of women in the retail energy market through networking and educational opportunities.
In addition to her role with TEPA, Shannon operates McGriff Energy Consulting, a full service energy management firm based in Houston, Texas. As an energy broker, she has helped clients across the country reduce their costs and improve their energy management strategies.
When she’s not working, you can find Shannon traveling, trying all of the newest restaurants in Houston, and answering her friends’ questions about the reliability of the power grid.
